staving off the crotchety old b*tch within
I was once teaching ESL in Las Vegas; this was after leaving one grad program and before flaking out on another. The class was held in the North Paw of the Sphinx right outside the Luxor. Seriously. Anyway, one of my students was writing an essay about his experiences in the US, and he was very disappointed that he was too old to attend high school. Even so, he remained optimistic and said, "Still, I have happy."

sucks about the car. stupid idiots. back in college i had my car broken into in boston. they took my bag with old family photos, no money, no credit cards. i did not travel with a litter box, however.
